Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Coordinator Role Created and Combined Board Formed
[News March 2024]The Covenant Trust Fund funding that had been used to sustain the Armed Forces Covenant Officer role was depleted in March 2024. In preparation for this, officers at Cambridgeshire County Council engaged with all City and District Councils that had benefitted form the central AFC Officer role to look at opportunities for a joint funded partnership officer role.
With solid backing from the Cambridgeshire Armed Forces Covenant Board and numerous County and District elected members, a 7-way partnership was developed and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Coordinator was developed.
It was decided early on to combine the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire AFC Boards into a single board which has not only reduced the administration required to facilitate two boards, but has allowed wider overlap and umdstanding of support requirements locally.
The role is hosted by Cambridgeshire County Council and the Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Coordinator (AFCPC) role sits within the Communities Service which provides excellents links into the Cambridgeshire Districts.
Tommy Kelly, formerly the Armed Forces Covenant Officer was delighted to remain part of the Covenant work across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough as the AFCPC. The initial term for the role under the partnership agreement is for 3 years.
