Brampton Care Home Achieve Veteran Friendly Framework

[News June 2025]

Montague House, Care Home in Brampton joined the growing band of care homes across England that are supporting veterans through the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF).

Designed for use in residential settings for older people, the Veteran Friendly Framework helps care providers to offer appropriate support for the thousands of veterans living in care homes across the country.

To launch VFF at Montague House, staff, working with local RBL leads, applied for Veteran’s badges for qualifying residents and presented them during a meeting of the Brampton NAAFI Break, which Montague House continues to support.

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Coordinator, Tommy Kelly, remarked, “It is so pleasing to see that Montague House has achieved the Veteran Friendly Framework to support their veteran residents. I am also extremely heartened to see the relationship that the home has with the RBL and the level of support they provide to allow a monthly NAAFI Break meeting to occur on their premises. This affords an opportunity for local members of the Armed Forces Community to meet up regularly. Brampton has a rich military history and Montague House are fantastic in keeping that alive through their work with the local community.”

The Veteran Friendly Framework supports care providers in identifying veterans and their wellbeing needs, addressing social isolation and providing signposting to statutory and charitable services.

It consists of eight standards which care providers will need to meet to complete their accreditation. Each of these standards will be accompanied by a set of resources that support care homes in demonstrating their achievement.
