Commissioning Manager – SEND and CWD

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commissioning Manager for Children and Young People with SEND and Children with Disabilities [CWD] in Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council shared children’s commissioning service.

This is an opportunity to be part of an evolving dedicated commissioning division. This position requires a highly motivated and innovative commissioning manager with a proven track record of delivery.

We are keen to recruit an ambitious inspirational candidate capable of delivering the key commissioning priorities over the next 3-5 years and beyond.

The Children’s Commissioning Team is dynamic and high performing with a ‘can-do’ approach, ensuring the best quality and range of services are commissioned to meet the diverse needs of our children’s population. We are looking for a candidate with a similar hands-on approach that can enhance and promote the service’s continuing development and delivery.

This role requires significant experience of working within the education and/ or services for children and young people with Disabilities sector, commissioning experience, commercial awareness and an ability to manage and deliver transformational change within a fast- moving environment. The right candidate will need to be able to demonstrate drive and determination to ensure our vision, comprehensively deliver aims and business objectives on time, to budget and offer value for money services that do not compromise on quality.

The SEND and CWD portfolio within the Children’s Commissioning Team covers a wide range of services, including services for disabled children such as overnight, community and residential short breaks; as well as provision of education for children and young people with an EHCP including maintained and non-maintained special schools, independent non maintained special schools and innovative education solutions that encourage inclusion for children with special educational needs.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience of Commissioning, or candidates who have transferable skills and knowledge from within the education/special school sector, disabled children’s/children’s social care for example; and can apply those skills to the role of Commissioning Manager.
