Why work together?
Across seven districts, partners work together to tackle housing issues in an area with a range of pressures and challenges, aiming to make a difference to residents' lives.
Many issues are very local and are best addressed by district councils, housing partners and communities themselves - but some are shared across a wider area and this is where collaboration can really help.
Some partners have a role and a business plan which covers a broad area and cuts across district boundaries. Working together as a group can help us all, setting out the issues we have in common and the resources we can use as a group.

For new homes and communities
- Strategic partnerships to deliver new homes and communities, such as cpl.
- A housing market assessment which covers a broad area, supported by a shared research resource and used to inform local plans.
- A shared subscription to housing market data, so we can compare trends between eight local districts, the East of England and the rest of England.
- Our home improvement agency covering three districts in our sub-region.
- A housing and health joint strategic needs assessment to highlight the many links between housing, health and social care agendas.
For existing homes
Shared schemes like Action on Energy.
Data to support a new approach to identifying areas of privately ownered and rented homes where investment is most needed.

To tackle housing need and homelessness
- A shared choice-based lettings system to help people apply for housing in the area needed, which helps us see our area's housing needs change over time.
- An action plan to tackle shared homelessness initiatives.
- Our homelessness trailblazer bid and plans for 2017-18 and 2018-19.
All these bring resource, time and staffing efficiencies.
