Wisbech Economic Study
As part of the Wisbech 2020 initiative, (to improve the long term economic and social future of the town), Cambridge University have completed a study on the options for encouraging future economic growth. This work was commissioned on behalf of a number of partners by the Research Group of the County Council.
The study looks at the broad potential for growth across a number of different sectors. Many have potential for growth but the report concludes that the area should play to its strengths and Gross Value Added (GVA) analysis shows that there is potential for strong growth in the agriculture and food manufacturing sectors. Within a growing UK economy with a high value oriented growth strategy, by 2030 the combined GVA of the agri-food sector could be £139 million.
The report is in three parts: summary, main report and technical appendix.
