Older People's Census 2011 Report

Older people, for the purpose of definition, are considered those over 65 years of age.  The 2011 Census counted 100,229 residents aged 65 and over in Cambridgeshire County and 24,878 in Peterborough Unitary Authority, demonstrating that older people make up a substantial 16.1% of the demographic in Cambridgeshire and 13.5% in Peterborough.

The Older Peoples Census 2011 Report covers the following topics of the population over 65, in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough:

  • Age and sex
  • Ethnicity
  • Communal establishments
  • General health and limiting long-term illness
  • Provision of unpaid care
  • Economic activity

Note that some Census topic areas were not yet released at the time of report writing and will be updated as they become available.  These were: Tenure, Living arrangements, Amenities, and Car ownership.
