Census 2011

Cambridgeshire Insight | Census 2011

What is the Census?

Every 10 years the Office for National Statistics (ONS) carries out a national census in order to gather information about the population of England and Wales. Topics include age, health, education, ethnicity, language use, work and religion, amongst others. National and local government organisations use this information in a variety of ways, such as allocating funding, planning services, and otherwise understanding local populations.

The 2011 Census took place on 27 March 2011.

Most census information has now been released.

Our analysis of the data, including area and topic reports, can be found from the links below. Further analysis will be published over the coming years.

Please see our Census 2011 prospectus below for more information.

More information can be found in the 2011 Census Prospectus on the ONS website.
